چکیده

abstract deep seated cavernous angioma (ca) is a very rare entity, those occurring in the hypothalamus are still less common. we present a case of a 52-year-old man who presented with behavior and memory disturbance attacks. he had a ca of the hypothalamus as revealed by magnetic resonance imaging (mri). we will discuss the role and importance of imaging in such scenario and also the differential diagnoses of this rare entity.

Cavernous angioma associated with venous angioma--two case reports.

A 17-year-old male and a 28-year-old female presented with cavernous angioma and venous angioma colocated in the same region, and manifesting as convulsions. The cavernous angiomas were extirpated without damage to the venous angioma. No postoperative neurological deficits were observed. The patients have been free of convulsions without anticonvulsant medication for 2 years. Early extirpation ...

Cavernous angioma of the cavernous sinus: imaging findings.

Cavernous angiomas (cavernomas) of the cavernous sinus are uncommon, with only scattered reports in literature. Unlike their parenchymatous counterparts, they are intensely enhancing para-sellar masses, iso/hypointense in T1- and hyperintense in T2-weighted images. Differential diagnosis with para-sellar meningiomas and schwannomas can be difficult. We report three cases of this condition, desc...

Venous Angioma, Cavernous Angioma, and Hemorrhage

In this issue of AJNR, Wilms et al ( 1) add to the ongoing debate whether the venous angioma, more recently called developmental venous anomaly (2), can be symptomatic, whether it alone can bleed, or whether such hemorrhage occurs because of the concomitant occurrence of a cavernous angioma . This debate is not just semantic. It is essential to pathophysiologic understanding of a given lesion s...

Chronic encapsulated intracerebral hematoma associated with cavernous angioma--case report.

An 80-year-old male presented with a chronic encapsulated intracerebral hematoma (CEIH) with surrounding edema under the right frontal lobe manifesting as slow exacerbation of disturbance of orientation and gait. He had a history of cerebral infarction with an asymptomatic cavernous angioma in the right frontal lobe. The CEIH was diagnosed as bleeding from the cavernous angioma, and surgical re...

Third ventricular cavernous angioma.

Third ventricular cavernous angiomas are rare vascular malformations of the brain. We report an eight-year old boy with a rare third ventricular cavernous angioma that hemorrhaged presenting with symptoms of acute hydrocephalus. Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed a heterogenous ill-defined, solid and cystic intraventricular mass in the third ventricle which was...
